Player of the Year

Player of the Year points are awarded game by game and are based on tournament performance, including positions gained, permanent eliminations, rebuys, field size and final table finishes.

More than 12 entries are required in a tournament for Player of the Year points to apply.

The winner of the league, league final and cash league final each receive an additional 500 points.

Monthly Player of the Month voting bonuses are also added to Player of the Year totals under the current rules.

The player with the highest total Player of the Year points across the season is awarded Player of the Year.

Players’ Player

Eligible players must have played more than 9 games in the current season.

Each voter selects a 1st choice and a 2nd choice.

A 1st choice vote is worth 25 points and a 2nd choice vote is worth 10 points.

The player with the highest total voting points is awarded Players’ Player of the Season.

All Players’ Player votes across the three seasons are also combined for the annual Players’ Player of the Year award.

Most Improved

To be considered for the shortlist, a player must have played more than 9 games in both the previous comparison season and the current season.

Statistical improvement is assessed using a weighted score based on Player of the Year points per game, ROI, cash rate, top 3 rate and win rate.

A player must also show genuine improvement across the selected metrics to make the shortlist.

Players then vote for their 1st choice and 2nd choice from the final shortlist.

A 1st choice vote is worth 25 points and a 2nd choice vote is worth 10 points.

The player with the highest total voting points is awarded Most Improved.

Toughest Opponent

Eligible players must have played more than 9 games in the current season.

This award is not necessarily for the player with the best results, but for the player voters feel was hardest to play against across the season.

Each voter selects a 1st choice and a 2nd choice.

A 1st choice vote is worth 25 points and a 2nd choice vote is worth 10 points.

The player with the highest total voting points is awarded Toughest Opponent of the Season.

People’s Champ

Eligible players must have played more than 9 games in the current season and must not already have won a seat in the Champion of Champions Final for that year.

Each voter selects one player only.

The player with the highest number of votes is awarded People’s Champ.

This is intended as a wildcard recognition award for a regular player who brought something special to the season and earned the respect and support of the room.

Best Newcomer

To be eligible, a player must have played more than 9 games in the current season and have played 5 or fewer games across the previous 3 seasons combined.

This award is designed to recognise players who have become regulars this season while still being genuinely new or relatively new to East Durham Poker.

Eligible players are ranked by Player of the Year points, with supporting season performance such as ROI, wins and top 3 finishes also helping separate the standings.

The highest placed eligible player is awarded Best Newcomer.

Final Table Specialist

It is based on hosted tournament games in the current season with more than 13 entries.

A final table finish is counted as any finish from 1st to 9th place.

Players are ranked by total final tables made in qualifying games, with final table percentage used as supporting context.

The highest placed player is awarded Final Table Specialist.

Best Moment

Each voter selects one moment only.

The moment with the highest number of votes is awarded Best Moment of the Season.

Man Down Standings

It is not a seasonal public vote award.

The standings are based on total kills recorded, with supporting information such as kills per game and other relevant yearly statistics shown alongside the leaderboard.

The highest placed player leads the Man Down Standings for that year.
